Ocean Reef, Key Largo

Originally a fishing camp located on the northern end of Key Largo, first of the string of coral islands that lead down to Key West, the Ocean Reef Club has been carefully developed over the years into a luxurious community oriented to recreational sports. Ideally situated for ocean fishing with the Gulf Stream some three miles off-shore, a primary objective in the management of its expansion was to retain the pristine quality of the area’s natural habitat, from palm fringed beaches to coral beds, and from the labyrinth of inshore channels through the mangrove to conserving the ecological equilibrium of the marine life at the shoreline.

This view of Buccaneer Cove near the entrance to the harbor epitomizes the character of the flora at the water’s edge with an east wind enlivening the palms and small craft at their moorings.
