The masterpiece of the great designer Sir Thomas Slade, Nelson’s flagship was far from new at the Battle of Trafalgar, having begun building in 1759. Preserved in dry-dock at Portsmouth Royal Dockyard since 1922, and immaculately restored in recent years, Victory today appears as she was in 1805.
