One of the few survivors of the New England sailing fishermen and perhaps best known because of its current preservation at Mystic Seaport Museum – The L.A. Dunton, is shown here being menaced by a giant steamer on Georges Bank in 1921. A Gloucester fisherman, she was built for Captain Felix Hogan by A.D. Story at Essex, Massachusetts, and was named for Louis A. Dunton, a famous sailmaker of Boothbay, Maine.
