Cincinnati: The Public Landing by Moonlight c. 1875

This subject of Cincinnati’s public Landing, along with its daylight companion piece, Cincinnati a View from Mt. Adams c. 1875 has been painted with the idea of bringing into special focus the Church of the Immaculata, standing in its sentinel position on Mt. Adams, with its magnificently dominating panoramic views of the Ohio River. In this painting, we see the church from exactly the opposite direction to the companion daylight piece in which the Public Landing is viewed close up.
